Speech recognition and cleanup run locally after the models are downloaded. You don’t need a Mouthtype account to dictate. Your recordings and text history live on your Mac.

Cleanup aims to remove the rough edges while keeping your wording. Pick Basic for local formatting rules, or optional Fast and Thorough models for more cleanup. Tone controls capitalization and ending punctuation.
Out of your way.
Hold your shortcut, speak, then release. Mouthtype processes the take and inserts it into the app you were using. Paste Last and recovery help you keep a take when delivery needs attention.
Start with a clean capsule. Choose the Hi-Fi pill when you want a little more personality. A small tool can have a point of view without taking over your desk.

Mouthtype is a private alpha for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 26 or later. App compatibility, clipboard behavior and fresh-install setup still need wider testing. Linux is planned, not available.
The distributed alpha.3 and newer source builds have different settings layouts. The getting-started guide explains which is which.
