Speech recognition and cleanup run locally after the models are downloaded. You don’t need a Mouthtype account to dictate. Your recordings and text history live on your Mac.

Cleanup aims to remove the rough edges while keeping your wording. Pick Basic for local formatting rules, or optional Fast and Thorough models for more cleanup. Tone controls capitalization and ending punctuation.
Out of your way.
Hold your shortcut, speak, then release. Mouthtype processes the take and inserts it into the app you were using. Paste Last and recovery help you keep a take when delivery needs attention.
Start with a clean capsule. Choose the Hi-Fi pill when you want a little more personality. A small tool can have a point of view without taking over your desk.

Mouthtype 0.4.0 is a stable release, for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 26 or later. App compatibility, clipboard behavior and fresh-install setup still need wider testing. Linux has an experimental source-only client, without a packaged desktop release.
The Mac app includes the Settings window, per-app tone rules and built-in update checks. The getting-started guide covers the current build and upgrading from an earlier alpha.
